Points of Connection reflects on the ways we connect to one another and the world around us. The wires and blue string represent the man-made connections we forge. They are tangible, like calling a friend, following someone on social media, or sending a love letter. There are also the unseen ties that grow and spread without our permission as represented by the trees and neutral strings. We may experience these bonds in more subtle ways, like smiling at the thought of a loved one or feeling at peace when amongst your chosen community.

The necessity of these less visible connections was ironically conveyed to me during the process of making these works. I attempted to stiffen the fabric enough to remain upright while only being suspended by the blue linear strings. After many attempts with different stiffening mediums, the fabric would still wilt over time. That is when I added the neutral strings to hold drooping fabric upright. I felt my work was communicating with me that we cannot be held up by tangible connection alone. Such actions are hollow without allowing ourselves to feel and grow the emotions supporting them, as it is equally important to express how we feel in tangible ways to the people we love and care for.
